Running
Last Tuesday – 45 minutes in nature trails then up top for 2xtop loops. Don’t remember the first one, second one was 8:17.
Wed. – 6×800m. 3 at 2:24-26 then 3 at 2:20 (2:21, 2:21, 2:19)
Thursday – 50 minutes easy
Friday – 30 minutes easy. Went to B&N to buy 3 AP Prep books (Psych, Econ, Calc) but also picked up Running With the Buffalo and The Perfect Mile. Started reading The Perfect Mile to get pumped for my race the next day.
Saturday – Lion Invitational at Middletown North. My parents took a ton of pics of the Varsity 1600m, so those are up on my FB. We got to take the later 10:00 bus (as opposed to 7:30) because the varsity 1600 was the 2nd to last event. Froshies ran pretty solid. 2 ran under 5:00 and another 2 under 5:10. And vinay ran 5:14. My freshman PB was a 5:09 from the 2006 Lion Invitational, so good memories of this meet. We didn’t race until around 4:00ish, and the rest of the guys’ team had already left (Except for Horace =D) because Bell scratched the 4×400 team.
I was seeded at 4:30 (Coacher is quite tricky), so I was the second seed. That ended up helping me because I got to be on the California Start, avoiding much of the initial pushing and whatnot that occurs at the beginning of the race, especially since I get boxed in really often due to my slightly slower starts. The first lap was mad slow at around 72, but Metlitz from RBR took pace the second lap, and we came through in 2:20. A ton of people fell off as Metlitz started to turn up the heat with that 68s second quarter. Finished 3rd with a time of 4:42.7. The rest of the team had varied results. Nice 4:48 and 4:49 from Miracle and Ollie, respectively. They were 6th and 7th. (Ridiculous medal cockblock out of the 2nd heat) A lot of people ran like garbage though. Probably partially due to ridiculously hot weather.
Sunday – Long run from HHS to Thompson Park. 80 minutes with George and Ollie. Even hotter than Friday.
Monday – 40 minutes easy then strides. Quads and calves were tight and felt like garbage.
Tuesday – “Time trial” at SJV. George tooks us out in 67 then 2:16. I finished 2nd with 4:40 behind George’s 4:35 and ahead of Ollie and Stefan, who both ran 4:42. I did 7×300m after the meet at 49-50s. Calves really felt it today, but another pretty good race, setting me up for some good stuff at this friday’s twilight meet and counties next week.
More on the rest of life later. I’m tired from the meet.
