Before APs and before I’m done as a high school runner.
Running wasn’t too tough last week. After the epic top loop workout on monday, we ran a premeet for the RFH dual meet, which was cancelled to preserve field conditions for holmdel relays. Ran a 12×300m workout on wed. Thursday was premeet for Holmdel Relays.
Holmdel Relays
1200m leg of the DMR with Friggly, George and Kris. We all ran well, except George was still sick, so he only ran 4:30. I managed my first legit track race of senior year. (Others were right after coming back from IT band issues or coach-prescribed “workout” type races) My splits were 65 70 66. I was in the front pack with Arnone from RBR and one of the decent 800m runners from RBC for most of the race. We let some kinda scrubby indian kid take pace the second lap, which is why it was so slow. But the slow second lap probably helped me stay up and confident for the middle section of the race, so that’s good. Our last chance at the DMR is East Coast Relays on May 18th (?), so if we do well a month from now, we could be shooting for Nike Outdoor Nationals.
I had plans for splits for my next 1200 race, but it’s probably better if i focus more on staying on the front pack for the first 2 laps and then lifting the shit out of the last lap. With very few exceptions, my best races have been the ones where i don’t pay attention too much to splits. Can’t wait to absolutely destroy my 3200 PB from soph year. 9:40 isn’t looking too ridiculous with the way i feel during practice.
Holmdel Relays Day 2 on Saturday was another great day. Both days were even sunnier and nicer than predicted (see post below…). Those of us that didn’t have to race on Day 2 went for an hour long run in the morning before most of the events started. I didn’t pay too much attention to the results for our team since the freshman mile had been on Day 1 (Sick, btw. 4 below 5:10! I’m so proud that people are calling Mike Choie “The Next Kev Hsu.”) We seriously have the nicest track of any high school in a 20 mile radius. I’m totally gonna crash some of the open events at twilight meets when i’m in college.
Sunday I woke up too late to run with Arthur and gang. Ran 80 minutes from my house to Nature Trails, around Bayonet. Discovered some awesome exercises for the JCs. The 6-JCs are regaining and surpassing their previous levels of elegance.
Today was 5toploop “modified tempo run.” Started at 9:39, worked down to 8:37. Not racing again till Lion Invitational on Saturday. We’re holding out quite a few from tmw’s tri meet with Matawan and Raritan because George is still recovering and Ollie said he was sore from Friday’s 3k. (He ran well. 9:29 is great for a guy that skipped winter)
Nonrunning
UCSD probably isn’t gonna happen. Doesn’t look like my dad’s job is as geographically flexible as previously thought.
Still haven’t sent my letter for Harvey Mudd and their xc/track coach. Gotta jump on that before the end of this week.
Need a job for this summer. Considering becoming a lifeguard or something if i can’t find another job. Friggly says it’s fun…
Fuck Econ. I feel like, not only am i not learning anything, but there’s actually nothing to learn.
Viliv S5 has stoked my interest. 600$ for x86 mobile computing…. The hardware is amazing, and all the software is already in place (Windows XP, so anything that has drivers for XP works) Not sure if i can get by with just this instead of a netbook in college. Need to decide by next monday to take advantage of a free carkit/carryingcase/extrabattery bundle deal for early adopters. This UMPC sold out in 15 minutes in the original Korean release. Then again they only released 1000 for that original release, which really blows my mind. How can you even recoup R&D costs with 1000 units? Or rather, how can you recoup the undoubtedly sizeable amounts of money you paid SNSD to promote your product? Or are they creating an artificial shortage to drive up hype and demand?
Sold most of the PC games i mentioned a few posts ago. Still got a copy of Crysis Warhead and 1 or 2 copies of Orange Box left if anyone’s interested. Nowhere near as profitable as Sam’s startup is gonna be, but it gets me some pocket money =D.
I have no date for Prom. Even a few people that I mentioned to Ritchie half-jokingly are apparently taken already as well. What the fuck, Bert. Serious suggestions go in the comments, kiddos. If all else fails, at least I’ll look fuckingggg sickkkkk in a top hat.
hey.
I don’t have a date either.
come with me.
yes indeed (hopefully) profitable. oh and if you ever feel like it you can join me in affiliate marketing to get more moolah =D I’ll get back to you on that one when I’m done learning from eugene sung, haha. he’s the master
GAH KEV YOU MUST FIND A DATE TO PROM. Brainstormtime. hm.
ah when are you going to UIUC registration? I’m making my reservation and buying my plane ticket today
lol
