I’m leaving for heath camp tommorow, but you probably already know this if you’re reading my blog… I’ll make a proper post when i get back

This is when the magic happens August 13, 2008

Yesterday i was doing day 3 week 3 of the hundredpushups plan. I literally collapsed with 10 pushups to go. Then i tried to complete the last 10, but collapsed with 1 to go. After that i mustered out a measly 2 pushups with shit form and just sprawled on the floor. My triceps are done for at least another 36 hours. I suppose pain is totally worth it for self gratification and that great feeling of “depussifying.”

My running is finally starting to click into gear after a month and a half of inconsistent training. Trying to run with george on my off days has given me the extra push i needed. Ordered the shit colored Adizero CS but managed to score the pink/silver/black Fam signature edition Adizero Belligerence. These are the shoes that will help lead our team past West Windsor Plainsboro. I’m relatively psyched for heath camp next week since it pretty much equates to lots of running and lots of screwing around with the xc guys. All of the dumb shit we do relieves loads of stress.

Dad bought a semi-expensive road bike. As far as i know, he’s been riding it almost everyday for 30-40 minutes. It’s good to see him doing some exercise. Perhaps i’ll take up biking after high school. It’ll help my quads a bit.

Started the PC build and already did a very good portion. All i have left to do is to stick in the sound card, DVD drive and video card as well as plug in the case fans, usb, and firewire ports on the case. I won’t finish until after heath camp because i was missing a SATA cable this weekend (for teh DVD drive. Already had one for the HD.) Also, i just ordered the ATI 4850 with my SATA cable last night, so i won’t get the parts in time for this weekend. I really hope i didn’t make any careless mistakes that would fry my system. I was pretty sure to ground myself everytime i touched something. I’ll post pics either here or on FB when i next get a chance to work on the build.

Rushing to get hw done before sunday. Unfortunately, i’m wasting time by watching olympics and posting on WP.

My body is aching all over. I should try and get more rest.

Saw Horace today for the first time since he got back! That silly kid was wearing sweatpants when we started xc practice. Naturally i asked him why. His response was to take off the pants. Thus, the natural progression was for me to ask why he was wearing shorts too. I did not get the same positive response as the first time. That boy knows how to play hard to get.

All of the PC parts came today. Saw a decent deal on an Asus 4850 for $150, so that might be the card i get. (especially since it was free shipping plus it was on zipzoomfly, so i wouldn’t hafta pay tax like i do for newegg.) I will most likely put together the computer this weekend though, and i’ll just throw in teh gfx card later. (Although it’s admittedly very disgusting to be using integrated graphics with such an otherwise nice setup.)

I ran like complete garbage today on our FWBW workout. There are multiple shit excuses i can make for pussying out. 1) We had to run varsity courses and FWBW on monday, so today was the second hardxcore hills day of the week. (I ran w/ hoff, george, and jay on monday for 9.5 miles, so i was a bit beaten up. Also beaten up from running with george almost all of last week) 2) Forgot to drink accelerade the day before. (I’ve gotten into the habit of drinking it, although i’m well aware that accelerade’s benefits probably come mostly from placebo effect) 3) Mccaff made us do these hideous exercises on tuesday that made my legs sore in really strange places. (incidentally, we did these exercises in the winter for a brief period, and i ran like shit during that period too.)

Gotta set up a carpool to get to heath camp since the buses are full. So far, karl also needs a ride. I need to find more people that don’t have rides to camp.

My wolf is having slight issues as of late during a few practice sessions. Need to practice reflector>dsmash combo as a good finisher.

Started the 3rd week of hundredpushups yesterday. Failed to complete the workout properly. (Partially dave’s fault for making me laugh!) However, i made up the sets that i screwed up later that night. Ended up doing a total of over 80 pushups yesterday. The training schedule has started to ramp up in difficulty.

The olympics are starting soon, but i’m only excited to see the track events. And possibly swimming. I vehemently hate watching gymnastics though. It is sort of interesting, but the judging system is so subjective, it’s comparable to our high school english classes, and it just pisses the shit out of me.

Ugh, hafta restart my ff4 game since my microSD card crapped out on me and corrupted the save file. 10 hours of my life wasted. The good news is that since my ff4 file crapped on me, i started playing ffta2. Strat games aren’t really my thing, but i’m starting to get into ffta2. (Fire Emblem is probably the whole reason i don’t like strategy games. Don’t get me wrong, I totally love sexually ambiguous males in fantasy settings, but the gameplay should be the first priority.) Come to think of it, Nintendo has been really screwing the “core gaming audience” as of late. I don’t give a flying fuck about Wii Sports Resort. I honestly played less than 2 hours of Wii Sports after getting my Wii. And guess which friggin’ game hasn’t come out of my Wii in 5 months? Yes, Brawl has been in my Wii since launch day. I haven’t even taken it out to put melee into my Wii nor have i taken it out to play through No More Heroes.

You don’t have extramarital affairs, and you don’t play games other than brawl on the wii. That’s just one of the cornerstones of human morality. (Unless you’re a Mormon. You might as well get fucking Carnival Games if that’s the case. You’ve already been tricked into a huge waste of time, money, and effort in your lives. Why the fuck not again?)

And no, sam, i don’t think it’s very ethical for me to make false claims that i need money to buy new running shoes.

The useless, non-computer sect of my life August 4, 2008

Let’s begin with a digression! All of the PC parts except for the graphics card arrive on thursday. That means i can probably begin the assembly this weekend. But i still need to order the 4850.

running: spent the past week w/o mccaff mostly running with george and jayram. Which is definitely a good thing. I need to start running faster at practice if i want a realistic chance to run 16:45 at Holmdel. I’m probably sticking with the Adizero CS for the rest of XC. The good thing is they already came out with a 3rd colorway for the shoe. Unfortunately, it looks like a fucking crayola crayon colorway. Still, i suppose being flashy has its costs, no? Same goes with the Adizero Belligerence. I mean, what the fuck was Adidas thinking? (I guess they though bad colors wouldn’t keep me from buying their first decent XC spike in around 15 years.) (They aren’t wrong. I’m still considering it) My other option is to wear the Dirt Dog 2’s from last year for the messier races and then trash my harambees for the sake of running fast on important races. I can easily get a pair of harambee OG’s for 30$, so i’d be set if i really want another pair. (the OG’s are better anyway according to dyestat spike-whores.) Then again, i do need to consider the Matumbo’s and Victories for track. So i might be better served by going with the harambees/dirtdog plan to save some money. I’ll see how the initial impressions of the Adizeroes are.

Work: Got transferred to the Roads/Bridges department from Surveying. Now i work with 3 other interns who all happen to be pretty cool. Even though i actually have to do work now, it’s better since there’s someone to talk to other than a 65 year old Indian guy. Plus we play monopoly on a laptop during the lunchbreak. And we’re currently trying to get a pirated version of Tiger Woods PGA TOur 08 working.

hundredpushups.com : Finished week 2 and did my diagnostic test today. Managed 35. I should be able to do 40-45 at this point, but i did my diagnostic right after getting home from my 10 miler today. So i’m still on track to achieve the 100 pushup goal within the 6 weeks of the program.

Sam Operation: Not much time left, and party in 2 weeks is probably the final stand before a 3 month hiatus.

Anime: Stuck since most of my usual fansub groups are stalling. Only been getting weekly Code Geass R2. I suppose this is a good thing though. I really do need to finish up some more of my college apps and hw before i head off for running camp.

Smash: Maining DK for a while really improved my Wolf. I’m hitting my fastfalls more consistently and the much lower DK airspeed has allowed my Wolf to move faster in the air since i’m now prepared much quicker after i go into air combat. Also reduced reliance on blaster and Fsmash. In fact, i’ve barely used them lately. I will reincorporate them into my game when i’m satisfied with my air game and my nair>reflector>dsmash finishers. O yeah, and DK forced me to abuse my bair, which in turn improves my Wolf, since Wolf’s bair is one of his best moves but is much faster than DK’s since he has faster air speed. My Marth is having serious consistency issues. usually i play 1-2 really good games with my Marth (better than all my other characters). But then, i drop off and start playing like shit. Thankfully my other characters don’t suffer from this issue. Still working on the CF, but due to serious priority issues, I’ve hit a big wall in terms of CF improvement. The bair and uair need to be incorporated into my CF more since the fair is obviously not what it was in melee. I haven’t played any DDD’s in a very long time other than CPUs since i’ve been mostly playing Guo on in brawl lately. This might be a problem since i’ve weened my wolf off blaster spam, which reduces the chaingrabbing madness and waddledeedoogordo assraping that could occur if i’m not careful with a decent DDD. (STEVE!!! Need to get in contact with this kid. He’s the coolest guy ever.)

Getting a job obviously has had its benefits (namely money and looking good for college and meeting an awesome mexican UPenn engineering student), but I’m sort of behind on hw, so i need to get my ass moving on that shit. Good thing i’m applying to a few smaller colleges that will have much less Holmdel-asian competition, so i won’t get assraped by rampant grade deflation and affirmative action and overzealous people with highschool club/extracurricular-whoring tendencies. I suppose i’ll be relying on SAT scores and decent rec letters and decent science league credentials (Unfortunately the tryout system for our science league team is completely broken and our physics I team managed to suck major ass this year. The good news is that the team for the national science olympiad thing (forgot what its called, but need to confirm for my resume) for chem managed first place. and i guess the fullscore on the individual physics one will cancel out my abysmal SAT phys result) (It really blows my mind how I ended up getting friggin B in Chem but managed to perform so well on the chem competitions. Then again, AP Chem with Blaha was a class you could honestly get a D in and still have a respectable chance of getting a 5 on the AP test. Shit’s intense, yo!) to get me into college. And according to mccaff, running…

There’s probably no harm in revealing my college choices here (No one capable of cockblocking me for college would be interested in most of my realistic choices anyway) but i’m actually not set in stone about them anyway. I have a decent idea which ones i’m applying to, but still on the fence about a few. And still deciding between engineering (and which engineering major) and econ. I suppose it depends how things go for the first few weeks of AP Econ.
